Disposable strip or reusable hook

Thin barbed strips can pass through some strainers but may snap if forced. Reusable hooks and small grabbers can offer better control and cleaning, provided their shape fits the opening.

  • Working length
  • Flexibility and break resistance
  • Hook or barb design
  • Cleaning and storage

Protect the fixture

Metal tools can scratch finishes, while sharp plastic barbs can catch seals or components. Remove the stopper correctly where possible and stop if the tool meets hard resistance.

  • Stopper removal method
  • Protected edges
  • Controlled retrieval
  • Waste containment

A safer decision process

  1. 1

Remove the cover or stopper correctly

  2. 2

    Wear gloves

  3. 3

Insert only as far as the tool is designed

  4. 4

    Rotate or hook gently

  5. 5

Retrieve debris and clean the opening

Important safety point

Do not insert a retrieval tool after using a corrosive cleaner. The tool can splash contaminated liquid onto skin and eyes.
